Serbia, US sign drug control agreement
BELGRADE - The Serbian ministers of interior and justice, Nebojsa Stefanovic and Nikola Selakovic have signed with US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby a Serbia-US agreement on cooperation in drug control and law enforcement to improve the work of the judiciary and the police in the fight against organised crime.

Man's charred remains retrieved from vehicle following accident
Police in Athens were investigating the circumstances surrounding a car accident that led to a man's death on Petrou Ralli Avenue in the early hours of Thursday.
The victim's charred remains were retrieved from a burned vehicle by firemen who were called to the scene on Thursday.
Initial reports suggested that the victim's car hit a utility pole before bursting into flames.

US to investigate Ferguson police: source
The Justice Department could open a wide-ranging investigation into the practices of the Ferguson, Missouri, Police Department as early as Thursday following the shooting last month of an unarmed black 18-year-old by a white police officer in the St. Louis suburb.
A person briefed on the matter said Missouri officials were notified Wednesday of the probe.

Charred body discovered in Kypseli basement blaze
Police in Athens were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified individual whose charred remains were discovered in a basement in Kypseli, central Athens, on Wednesday.
The body was discovered by firemen who were called to the scene to put out a blaze in the apartment.

Stefanovic: Measures to protect police officers
BELGRADE - Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic met Wednesday with the representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor's Office and the trade unions, and stressed that the government will take measures to protect police officers in view of the growing number of assaults on them, some of which ended fatally.
