Albania in Final Push Against Outlaw Village
Using helicopters, elite special forces units from the Ministry of Interior have landed in the center of Lazarat, taking over a building from which the police say they were being fired on with anti-aircraft guns.
More than 1,000 police officers were involved in the operation on Thursday.

Newborn found abandoned on Patissia rooftop
A newborn was found Thursday on the roof ledge of an abandoned single-level dwelling in the Patissia neighborhood of Athens.
Police and paramedics immediately arrived at the scene after neighbors called police when they heard the baby girl cry from the rooftop.
The baby was said to be in good health.
Police are investigating the incident.

Inquiry launched into policeman accused of hitting protesting cleaner
An internal police inquiry has been launched into the actions of a riot officer accused of hitting a woman protesting her dismissal from the Greek Finance Ministry's cleaning staff on Thursday.
The unnamed officer was allegedly wearing a lined glove that is not standard police issue when he pushed one of the protesting cleaning women to the ground.

Police in Athens were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found in an abandoned building located on Patission Street, central Athens, on Wednesday afternoon.
Early reports suggested the victims body carried several wounds.

City Hall presses for rehiring of ex municipal police officers
City Hall is pressing for former municipal police officers who have not been rehired as employees of the Greek Police force to be taken on to staff "critical services."
In a statement late on Thursday, City Hall called on the Administrative Reform Ministry to accept its appeal "even at the eleventh hour" and rehire the staff.

KRUŠEVAC -- Three police officers have been wounded in Lipovo near the town of Kruševac when a man threw a hand grenade at them, RTS is reporting.
According to unofficial information, the suspect threw the device from a taxi car at a traffic police patrol, wounding two policemen.
