The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation says it will commit $1.2 billion to the effort to end polio worldwide. The money will be used to help implement the Global Polio Eradication Initiative's strategy through 2026. 

For years, global health officials have used billions of drops of an oral vaccine in a remarkably effective campaign aimed at wiping out polio in its last remaining strongholds, typically, poor, politically unstable corners of the world.

Foreign travellers will need to prove that they have received both doses of the vaccine before traveling to the United States

The current epidemiological situation, the introduction of the third dose of the vaccine for individuals, as well as possible new measures were discussed at the session.
At the just-concluded session of the Crisis Staff, it is unofficially known that it was decided to enable the giving of the third dose to especially risk groups.

"But what has to worry us is - Great Britain. If the Chinese strain was one to infect three, this Indian strain is to infect five to six," says Kon.
He adds that vaccines also protect against the Indian strain, and when asked if it is possible to get symptoms of the virus, in addition to vaccination, he answered:

Polio workers across Pakistan were instructed to remain vigilant on April 25 after multiple attacks on vaccination teams killed at least three people this week amid an ongoing push to eradicate the disease from the restive country.
