Varoufakis calls for Greek bankruptcy inquiry
The leader of the leftist MeRA25 party, Yanis Varoufakis, submitted a proposal to Parliament on Tuesday for the establishment of an inquiry committee to investigate the causes of Greece's financial meltdown and bankruptcy in 2010 and its subsequent international bailouts.

Turkish political parties urge US to revoke sanctions over S-400s
In a joint declaration on Dec. 15, Turkish political parties urged the U.S. to revoke its decision to impose sanctions on Turkey over its acquisition of the Russian S-400 missile defense system.
"We reject the U.S. sanctions decision that was announced on Dec. 14, 2020. Turkey never hesitates to take any step necessary to protect its national security," read the declaration.
Parties continue debate on 2021 budget
Greek political parties continued a heated debate in the Parliament's plenary session on Monday over the draft state budget for 2021.
The debate, which is in its fourth day, will conclude with a vote on Tuesday night.

Spat between interior minister, HDP MPs escalate tension in parliament
Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) lawmakers had exchanged a war of words over security policies of the government that escalated tension at the budget talks of the parliament on Dec. 13.
During the budget negotiations, HDP MPs criticized the appointment of trustees to the municipalities where their party's candidates won at the elections.

Commercial enterprises that suffer the greatest loss in turnover this holiday season will receive most of the fifth and sixth phases of the "Deposit To Be Returned" after Christmas, Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis promised on Saturday, referring to the cheap state loans program for entrepreneurs and the self-employed.

Fines for nine women demonstrators revoked
The fines imposed on nine women activists who were detained on November 25 for violating the public health protection measures by gathering in front of Parliament in Athens to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women have been erased, Deputy Citizens' Protection Minister Lefteris Oikonomou said on Friday.
