Not all traditions are worth preserving. If they were, our culture would have stagnated. This remark may sound unbearably self-evident, but events have demonstrated that this is not the case.

The suspension of the membership of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's party in the European People's Party constitutes a resounding message to the political forces which do not respect the fundamental principles of the European family.

The Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday suspended its plenary session for the lack of a quorum. Florin Iordache, chairman of the meeting, asked for a verification, which revealed that the quorum was not met as only 110 MPs were present. "There are 110 attendees; there is not a quorum. Given the circumstances, I have to suspend the session," Iordache said.

In the pre-election period that Greece has entered, one hears plenty of grand declarations from politicians. Some, for instance, are about how to defeat neoliberalism, and others concern safeguarding the endangered European culture.

71% of Bulgarians say it is necessary to investigate corruption at the highest political level, and 63% say that corruption at municipal level has to be investigated, said Alpha Research manager Boryana Dimitrova at a round table, Focus News Agency reports.

It is the inalienable right of every citizen to shape and hold his own opinion on issues of historical significance without separating Greeks into traitors and patriots. Division must be avoided at all cost. Particularly, Greeks must not be divided for the wrong reasons or on the basis of groundless arguments.
