The right-wing Islamic nationalist Great Union Party (BBP) will be part of the alliance between the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) for the upcoming June 24 snap elections, its leader Mustafa Destici said on April 28. 

Ahead of a tight electoral schedule for the upcoming snap elections to be held on June 24, the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and opposition parties continued to engage in a whirlwind of talks on April 25 over possible electoral alliances. 

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) have blasted the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) over its decision to send 15 lawmakers to the İYİ (Good) Party in order to make it eligible for early elections.

Felicity Party (SP) leader Temel Karamollaoğlu is set to meet with main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener this week in the capital Ankara before visiting Abdullah Gül, who served as president of Turkey from 2007 to 2014, in Istanbul.

The Supreme Board of Elections (YSK) has approved the participation of the İYİ (Good) Party in the upcoming elections after 15 main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) lawmakers joined the party in order to ensure its entrance to the elections.

Fifteen main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) members will join the İYİ (Good) Party for the upcoming early presidential and parliamentary elections on June 24, Turkish broadcaster CNN Türk reported on April 22. 

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has blasted the state of Turkey's education system, stating that the dismissals of academics harm the scientific production.

Prejudice against the Roma still continues, but there have been significant changes in society's negative perceptions towards them, according to Turkey's first Roma parliamentarian. Despite positive changes in perceptions, access to education, shelter, and employment remain key problems, said Özcan Purçu, a member of the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP).

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli defended the extension of the state of emergency rule, stating that it is an imminent necessity for Turkey's survival against the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).
