Serbia "has duty to help Serb entity" - Nikolic

BELGRADE -- The Serb Republic (RS) is not not sufficiently prepared to defend itself from fundamentalism and terrorism, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has said.

Nikolic made the comments after his meeting with RS President Milorad Dodik, and added that it is Serbia's duty to help the Serb entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina in this.

BANJA LUKA - The president and vice-president of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik and Ramiz Salkic respectively, condemned together on Tuesday the terrorist attack in Zvornik that left one policeman dead and two wounded, and called for peace and tolerance among citizens.

BANJA LUKA -- The government of the Serb Republic (RS) has condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack on a police station in the town of Zvornik.

One policeman was killed and two others wounded in the attack on Monday evening.

The President of Bosnia's Serb-dominated entity, Milorad Dodik, said his entity may withdraw from Bosnia's state-level security apparatus following an attack on a police station in the east of the country.
 
"Republika Srpska was shot at and we have right to defend ourselves, and we will defend ourselves," Dodik said.
 

Bosnia's main Serbian party, the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, SNSD, on Saturday re-elected its leader, Milorad Dodik, at a party congress in Eastern Sarajevo for another four years.

Burgas airport in Bulgaria confirmed to Balkan Insight that the plane carrying the Bosnian Serb President Milorad Dodik to Armenia was forced to turn back to Bosnia on Wednesday, after Turkey denied permission for it to cross its air space.
 

Dodik visited the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica on Thursday, laying flowers at the memorial centre that commemorates the Bosniak victims and paying tribute to the thousands who were massacred after the UN-protected enclave fell to Serb forces in July 1995.

The statement from Nebojsa Radmanovic, a senior leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, SNSD, sparked a heated debate in Bosnian media over the weekend, with opponents claiming that it could unsettle the ethnically-divided country's stability.

The main Bosnian Serb party, the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, SNSD, has threatened to block the work of Bosnia's long-awaited new state government, the Council of Ministers, which is holding its first session on Tuesday.
