Court OK's probe of Brazil’s Bolsonaro, who faces protests

Protests against President Jair Bolsonaro spread across Brazil on July 3, a day after a Supreme Court justice authorized a criminal investigation into his response to allegations of potential corruption involving a vaccine deal.

Demonstrators gathered by the thousands in more than 40 cities to demand Bolsonaro's impeachment or greater access to vaccines against COVID-19.

Brazilians stage more protests against Bolsonaro

Tens of thousands of people in Brazil staged another day of protest against President Jair Bolsonaro, in particular for his chaotic handling of the pandemic, which has claimed more than 461,000 lives here.

In downtown Rio de Janeiro, some 10,000 people wearing masks marched through the streets, with some chanting "Bolsonaro genocide" or "Go away Bolsovirus."

"You have 48 hours"

President Jair Bolsonaro's right-wing government has been criticized by state governors and public health experts for its unwillingness to tackle the pandemic, and for inventing a hastily drawn up and flawed plan.
