Two civilians were killed and 12 others were injured after terrorist group PKK/YPG fired mortar bombs from Syria into Kızıltepe district of southeastern Mardin province on Oct. 15, officials said.

New developments have complicated the situation in Syria. Kurdish officials have announced they have reached an agreement with Bashar al-Assad's government forces. The Syrian army marched north against Turkey's offensive in Kurdish-populated areas. This creates the risk of even greater conflict and direct clash between Syria and Turkey.

Turkey's military operation in northern Syria continued for a sixth day Oct. 14 as Turkish forces took control of the strategic M4 highway, which connects the Syrian districts of Manbij and Qamishli.

Turkish air forces have hit an ammunition truck of the YPG on Oct. 14, video footage has shown.

The U.S. on Oct. 13 withdrew its forces from military observation post south of Ayn Al-Arab in northern Syria, according to security sources. 

A total of 550 PKK/PYD-YPG terrorists have been "neutralized" since the start of Turkey's anti-terror operation in northern Syria, the National Defense Ministry said on Oct. 14.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
The ministry updated the figure in a Twitter post.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Oct. 12 he hoped the YPG, the Syrian offshoot of the illegal PKK, would "back up" fighting the Turkish military in northeastern Syria.

Eight more civilians were killed and 35 others were injured in southeastern Turkey on Oct. 11 in a YPG mortar attack from  across the border in northern Syria.

Turkey has expressed its expectation from NATO to provide clear solidarity in its fight against the YPG in northeastern Syria, saying the struggle will also strengthen the alliance territory.

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) is bolstering security for potential Turkish targets in the Greek capital and other parts of the country amid concerns about anarchist reactions to Turkey's operations in Syria. Increased patrols will also extend to potential American targets.
