BELGRADE - Bojan Pajtic has been elected the new president of the Democratic Party (DS), replacing its former leader Dragan Djilas, his sole rival.

A total of 1,461 delegates backed Pajtic at the party's electoral assembly meeting on Saturday, while 1,277 voted for Djilas.

The European People's Party and the Party of European Socialists will have to find a common language due to the makeup of the new European Parliament, according to Ivaylo Kalfin.

Two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the offices of Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) in Patissia, central Athens, on Friday night.

The attack cause minor damage to the party’s offices.

Nobody was hurt.

Ultranationalist LAOS surprised experts by gaining 2.7 percent of the vote in the European Parliament elections.

Social Democratic Party (PSD) Executive Chairman Liviu Dragnea in Alexandria, on Saturday, said that, in his opinion, Crin Antonescu would be "a mere passer-by" after the National Liberal Party (PNL) Congress.

National Liberal Party (PNL) Chairman on Saturday announced his intention of not running for President in the elections this year, as a step towards speeding up the project of unifying the Right-Wing forces.

Plamen Oresharski, the Prime Minister who heads Bulgaria's socialist-led government, said Friday he has thrown his support behind EPP nominee for Commission President.

After an unsuccessful no-confidence vote in Parliament, Oresharski told the media that he had backed the bid of conservative Jean-Claude Juncker as EU Commission President.

EU enlargement process "could slow down"

BELGRADE -- Slovenian President Borut Pahor stated on Friday that the results of elections for the European Parliament might slow down the EU enlargement process.

Serbia, he added, will have Slovenia's full support in the accession talks with Brussels.
