Bulgaria Said 'No' to Euroscepticism at EP Elections - President

Bulgarians reaffirmed their pro-EU orientation President in an unambiguous manner at the European Parliament elections, according to President Rosen Plevneliev.

In a Friday statement on the EP elections on May 25, Plevneliev suggested that the results had shown yet again that national division only existed in the minds of separate political leaders.

Latvia, Malta, Slovakia and The Czech Republic Head to Polls, Saturday

The Czech Republic, Latvia, Malta and Slovakia are heading to the polls on the third day of the European elections, Saturday.

The UK and the Netherlands held elections on Thursday, Ireland voted on Friday, while the rest of the EU member states, including Bulgaria, will exercise their right to vote on the last day of the European Parliament Elections, Sunday May 25.

62% of EU Voters Don't Care About European Elections

Sxity-two percent of the EU voters are “not at all” or “not much” interested in the European Parliament elections in May, shows a survey of Ipsos-MORI.

It was conducted in April. A total of 8 833 people were polled in Belgium, Britain, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Sweden.

EU Calls for Independent Investigation into Odessa Deaths

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton demanded an independent probe to establish those responsible for the violence that left over forty dead on Friday in Odessa, Ukraine.

On Friday, clashes between pro- and anti- government protesters in Ukraine's Black Sea port of Odessa killed at least 42 people and left over 125 injured.

Ashton: Serbia example to others in region

BELGRADE - EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton has voiced confidence on Monday that Serbia can be the example to others in the region, and show them what can be achieved through hard work and leadership.

Addressing the Serbian parliament during a special session, Ashton noted that some tough choices will also have to be made in the process.

BELGRADE – Serbia’s Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said Monday that Serbia will be the first in this part of Europe to launch talks on the rule of law Chapters 23 and 24 as early as next year, a clear sign that we want to put the country in order, and European foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton pledged EU assistance today.

Ashton to address Serbian parliament on Monday

BELGRADE - EU High Representative and Vice President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton will address the Serbian parliament at a special meeting on Monday.

The meeting will start at 3:15 p.m. CET, according to the parliament.
Ashton will arrive in Serbia on Monday to meet with future prime minister Aleksandar Vucic and President Tomislav Nikolic.
