The EU’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has appointed an independent legal expert to investigate allegations of corruption at Brussels’ rule-of-law mission in Kosovo, EULEX.

BELGRADE -- EU High Representative Federica Mogherini has appointed independent expert Jean-Paul Jacques to carry out a review of the EULEX mission in Kosovo.

His focus will be allegations of corruption in the context of this mission, said her office.

BELGRADE - The Thursday meeting of the UN Security Council that was to be used to present the latest quarterly report on Kosovo by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has been postponed, according to the UN website.

UN Security Council session on Kosovo canceled

PRIŠTINA -- A UN Security Council session on Kosovo that was scheduled to take place on November 13 has been postponed.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was to present his regular quarterly report on the situation in Kosovo.

According to the UN website, the meeting will not be held on Thursday.

NEW YORK - In the latest report on the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed concern over the political deadlock in Pristina and urged Kosovo's leaders to intensify efforts to find a solution and resume the dialogue with Belgrade as soon as possible.

The US ambassador to Kosovo, Tracey Jacobson, delivered a colourful message to Kosovo leaders on Thursday, using an expletive in Albanian to urge them to reach an agreement to form a government. "Don't s- on it," Jacobson said, in a message that made international news.

BELGRADE - Head of EULEX Gabriele Meucci has said that the mission is completely committed to cooperation and will provide assistance to the independent expert tasked with investigating claims of corruption within EULEX.

Three Serbs acquitted of war crimes charges

PRIŠTINA -- The mixed trial chamber of the Priština Basic Court acquitted on Thursday three Serbs of charges that they committed a war crime during the Kosovo war in 1999.

Two senior members of the European Parliament said allegations of corruption made by an EU rule-of-law mission prosecutor could seriously damage Brussels’ reputation in Kosovo if proved true.

Priština wants "diplomatic relations within 4 years"

BELGRADE -- Priština is preparing new demands ahead of the resumption of the Kosovo dialogue, including "establishing diplomatic relations with Serbia within four years."
