Mortality Rate in Bulgaria: Facts and Fiction
November 2020 is the deadliest month in Bulgaria for at least the last five years. This is according to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) on mortality in the country, published this week. In November, 15,953 people died in Bulgaria, with an average of about 8,300 in the same month over the past 5 years. The increase is over 92%.

Census in Bulgaria Мay Be Postponed
The population and housing census, which is due to begin on January 22, 2021, is likely to be delayed due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Bulgarians with the Lowest Life Expectancy in EU
Bulgaria is the country with the lowest life expectancy in the European Union, according to Eurostat data for 2018, quoted by the National Statistical Institute.
The longest lifespan have people in Spain - 83.5 years and in Italy - 83.4 years, according to statistics for EU countries.

Fertility rate in Turkey in decline, but still above European average: TÜİK
Turkey's total fertility rate, the average number of live births that a woman gives, fell to 1.88 per woman in 2019, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
"While the total fertility rate was 1.99 children in 2018, it was 2.07 children in 2017. This showed that fertility remained below the population's replacement level of 2.10," TÜİK stated.
