European tourism scrambles to salvage summer as lockdowns ease

There are no tourists at Vila Gale's resorts right now, and the home page of the company's website urges visitors to #STAYHOME.

Still, Portugal's second-largest hotel chain is busy: staff are stocking up on sanitisers, gloves, masks and thermometers, re-arranging dining tables to keep guests at least 1.5 metres apart, and drawing up a la carte menus to replace buffets.

Flying to Portugal, Turkish Airlines outdistances world giants

Turkish Airlines carried the highest number of passengers from Asia, Far East, and the Middle East to Portugal through Istanbul and outdistanced its rivals in the same segment last year, the flag carrier's Porto manager told Anadolu Agency.

Turkish Airlines carried 285,908 air passengers to Portugal last year, of which 60 percent was transit, Ahmet Faruk Şahiner said.

(Xinhua) -- The relationship between Bulgaria and Portugal is a symbol of the future of Europe as the two countries can cooperate and hold dialogue while seeking common ground on the basis of European values, visiting Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said here Wednesday.

President Radev's Working Visit to Portugal Continues

His program today includes talks with Prime Minister Antonio Costa and the President of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic, Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues, reported the Bulgarian National Television. 

Later, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev will meet with the Mayor of Lisbon, Fernando Medina, who will give him the honorary key of the city at a ceremony.

Among the topics to be discussed during the visit are opportunities to expand trade and economic relations, cooperation in the fields of education, science, innovation and culture, issues on the EU's agenda, as well as migration, writes the Bulgarian National Television. 

On the Square of the Empire, Rumen Radev will be welcomed by an official ceremony by his Portuguese counterpart.
