Russia Bars Poultry from 15 Countries, Bulgaria Included
Russia has imposed a temporary ban on poultry imports from 15 European countries, including Bulgaria, over risk of bird flu.
Bird Flu: 63 Locations of Infections in Bulgaria
The number of locations where bird flu cases have been registered has risen to 63, officials say.
As many as 430 000 birds have been infected, most of them having been culled already, according to outgoing Agriculture Minister Desislava Taneva.
Most of the locations, based in 9 regions in the country, are in the area of Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second-largest city.

BGN 5-6 M Needed To Deal With Bird Flu in Bulgaria
Between BGN 5 M and BGN 6 M will be needed in order for the state to deal with bird flu and compensate farmers, stated outgoing Agriculture Minister Desislava Taneva.
Taneva explained that bird flu is not dangerous for people.

Iraqis ban poultry imports from 24 states
Iraq has extended a ban on imports of frozen and live poultry products to cover two dozen countries, including China and South Africa, the government said on Jan. 10.
Baghdad last month restricted poultry imports from France, where an outbreak of avian flu has been reported.

Bird flu found in Turkey's west, area quarantined
Bird flu was found among dead birds in Turkey?s western district of Band?rma?s Edincik area, where around 1.2 million chickens are bred in poultry facilities. The three kilometers surrounding the poultry facility where the flu was found was quarantined.
