JusMin Toader on Superior Council of Magistracy's proposal on appointing chief prosecutors: Laws already adopted

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader told AGERPRES on Thursday, in connection with the proposal of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) to change the procedure for the appointment and dismissal of chief prosecutors, that the Justice laws have already been adopted.

"The laws have already been adopted!," Minister Tudorel Toader said.

DNA: It is time to voice concern over prosecutors' independence status being affected

Anti-corruption prosecutors are voicing their concern that the prosecutors' independence status might be affected.

The Judicial Inspection (IJ) announced on Wednesday that it was pursuing disciplinary action against chief prosecutor of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) Laura Codruta Kovesi over the prosecutor's appointment to a control team of a magistrate in an obvious state of incompatibility.

Chief Prosecutor of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) Laura Codruta Kovesi told AGERPRES on Tuesday that DNA had co-operated with the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) before 2013 as well, as requests under the protocol between the two bodies were signed by her predecessor Daniel Morar himself.
