The 2 Policemen Accused of Drug Distribution, Taking Bribes Remain in Custody

The specialized appellate criminal court ruled that the 2 police officers from 7th police station in Sofia will remain in custody. Alexander Stanev and Edzhevit Osman are accused of protecting the criminal operations of a drug distribution gang and of taking bribes.

U.S. lawyers suing Volkswagen get $300 million in fees, costs

 

A federal judge on Friday approved $125 million in fees and costs for lawyers who sued Volkswagen AG on behalf of U.S. owners of 88,000 3.0 liter diesel vehicles over excess emissions.

That is on top of $175 million in fees and costs approved by U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer in March for a related 2.0-liter VW diesel settlement covering nearly 500,000 owners.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will ask the Specialised Prosecutor's Office to publish a list of politicians financed by bankrupt Corporate Commercial Bank (CorpBank or KTB), according to the words of the leader of the party Korneliya Ninova, quoted by DarikNews.

Former general secretary for public revenues will not face trial

The former general secretary for public revenues, Katerina Savvaidou, will not face trial on charges of attempted breach of trust, according to a ruling by the council of appeals court judges made public Thursday.

In April a prosecutor had asked for Savvaidou to be tried for breach of trust, a charge aggravated by the provisions of laws against the embezzlement of state funding.

Prosecutor and State Official Arrested in Pleven on Charges of Criminal group, Threats to Witnesses

Prosecutor Dimitar Zahariev from the District Prosecutor's Office in Pleven and an official from General Directorate Execution of Sentences - Pleven have been arrested on charges for participation in a criminal group and threats to witnesses. This was announced by Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov,  FOCUS News Agency reported.
