Weather In Bulgaria: Snowy Conditions Sweep The Country

Bulgaria woke up to overnight snowfall blanketing most regions of the country. Forecasts indicate a rise in atmospheric pressure, surpassing the monthly average, leading to snow cover in northern Bulgaria and mountainous areas. Although precipitation is expected to taper off by day's end, a moderate to strong north-northeasterly wind persists.

Türkiye grapples with new cold wave, heavy rains

With a new cold wave coming from Iceland to hit the country, the Turkish State Meteorology Service warns of heavy precipitation and snowfall ahead as temperatures will further go down in the coming days.

Precipitation will continue in the west of the country on Jan. 8 and move toward the north from the western region to the Black Sea on Jan. 9, according to the bureau.

Snow's coming to Belgrade

The lowest temperature is from zero in the south to 10 in the north of Serbia, and the highest from 10 to 16 degrees Celsius. Temperatures remain above average, and snow is possible only on high mountains above 1,600 m above sea level.

Companies urged to outline snow clearing services amidst winter weather concerns

The Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministries sent letters to all companies with heavy machinery on Wednesday, urging them to outline the services they can provide during severe snowfall. 

This follows a comprehensive meeting on December 22, focusing on planning and coordination for potential extreme weather events, especially in the Athens metropolitan area.

Heavy snowfall cripples life in country

A messy mix of snow and rain wreaked havoc in parts of the country, as roads were closed to traffic in the province in the eastern and southeastern Anatolian region due to heavy snowfall and blizzards causing low visibility.

Transportation was severely disrupted in the provinces of Tunceli, Hakkari, Kars and Sivas, with some vehicles stranded on the roads.
