Missing farmer in western Greece crushed by tractor
A 65-year-old farmer missing since Wednesday in western Greece was found dead on Thursday, crushed by his tractor, state-run broadcaster ERT reported.
Infrastructure Min hails progress on E65 highway construction
Progress in construction work for the Central Greece Motorway (E65), connecting Macedonia with southern Greece through western Thessaly and Fthiotida in Central Greece, is "excellent," Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Staikouras said on Monday, during an on-site inspection.
Farmer protests spread to northern Greece
Farmers in the northern prefectures of Kozani, Kastoria, and Grevena, have staged protests and drove tractors in convoys towards towns to highlight problems in their sector that they say "threaten the sustainability of agricultural and livestock production."
Issues related to the implementation of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) are at the center of the farmers' concerns.

Greece leads in recreational boats for hire
Greece has the largest fleet of recreational boats available for hire in the region, according to a survey by Riginos, one of the country's leading yachting companies.
The number of vessels available for leasing in this country reached 2,580 in 2023, of which 740 are catamaran-type boats, whose popularity is showing significant growth.

Police arrest 282 persons in one day
More than 250 individuals were arrested across Greece on Wednesday by the police.
According to the police, officers took into account local operational plans and focused on areas with increased crime in an effort to improve public safety.
From the 21,609 people that were checked, 733 individuals were brought into police stations and 282 people were arrested.

Flooded roads in Chania, Crete
Streets flooded in Chania, Crete after storm Elias caused heavy rain on Wednesday.
The sudden storm broke out shortly after 3 p.m. turning several streets into torrents covering sidewalks, as reported neakriti.gr.
Shops also flooded in the city's old town.

PM visits central Greek town hit by devastating storm
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in Karditsa shortly after 11 a.m. Friday, as he is conducting an on-site inspection of the areas in Thessaly, central Greece, that have been affected by the severe weather brought on by Storm Daniel.
Mitsotakis visited the city's stadium, where he met with people who had been evacuated from their flooded villages.
