Well-preserved Ice Age woolly rhino found in Siberia
A well-preserved Ice Age woolly rhino with many of its internal organs still intact has been recovered from permafrost in Russia's extreme north.
Russian media reported on Dec. 30 that the carcass was revealed by melting permafrost in Yakutia in August. Scientists are waiting for ice roads in the Arctic region to become passable to deliver it to a lab for studies next month.

Mammoth fossil found in central Turkey
A 7.5 million-year-old mammoth fossil has been discovered in the central Anatolian province of Kayseri. The 3.5-meter fossil is of the 'Choerolophodon' species, said officials, adding that it is the first and only example in the world as it was found in one piece.

Preserved Head of a 40,000-year-old Wolf was Discovered in Siberia
An ideally preserved head of a wolf who died 40,000 years ago on the territory of today's Siberia was found and researched by Russian scientists, according to Reuters.
Due to the low temperatures, coat, teeth, brain and tissues have been largely preserved.
