Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic posted this on Facebok on Monday, adding:

"We all, state authorities, international organizations, civil society, academia and the media must do our utmost to counter this trend and recommit to the values and principles born after the tragedy of the Holocaust."

Greek Foreign Ministry condemns deadly Pittsburgh synagogue attack

The Greek Foreign Ministry on Sunday condemned a deadly attack on a synagogue in the US city of Pittsburgh on Saturday.

In a Tweet, the Foreign Ministry said it was "shocked" by the killing of 11 people by a lone gunman who stormed the Tree of Life synagogue during prayers.

Desecration of Jewish graves strongly condemned

Greek political parties have expressed their disgust over the desecration of Jewish graves at the 3rd Cemetery of Nikaia in Athens on Friday.

"Anti-Semitism, and all forms of racism, has no place in Greek society," a statement by ruling Syriza read.

"We will not allow the diffusion of racial hatred by those who feel nostalgia for Hitler," it added.

Anti-Jewish Sentiment in the UK is Getting Stronger

Anti-Jewish moods are spreading in the UK, a charity organization said today, they offer security advice to Jewish communities, Reuters reported.

"Community Service Trust" said that partly the reason lies in the alleged anti-Jewish feelings in the ranks of the opposition Labor party, but overall the change reflects the overall strengthening of anti-Semitism in the country.

Forging a common front

Recent events commemorating the Holocaust should make us think about the recent re-emergence of anti-Semitism in Greece as well as the rest of Europe. 

The phenomenon is in full swing and must be dealt with effectively.
