“The European Commission’s efforts on dealing with the refugee crisis are focused on Greece,” the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker said at the European Parliament plenary.

He also explained that he is preparing a “cooperation memorandum between EU-Turkey” on the same issue.

The President of the Association of Greek Regions, Kostas Agorastos will meet with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker Monday to discuss the migration crisis and the ‘Juncker financial growth package’. The meeting will take place in Brussels and two men will examine the role of the Greek regions in light of the huge refugee crisis.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Sept. 8 the EU executive would offer better protection for refugees but also improve its frontier defences and deport more illegal migrants.

The Greek government and the European Commission appear to be in disagreement after Mina Andreeva, spokesperson of European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker said on Monday the Commission expects more reforms by the Greek government in order for a loan tranche to be released by through the ESM.

French President Francois Hollande said France supports a stronger organization of Europe in an interview to weekly Journal du Dimanche. Hollande said that the ‘European spirit’ had prevailed in the past week commenting on the Greek crisis.

Former European Commission president Jacques Delors wrote an article in French newspaper Le Monde, that is co-signed by former World Trade Organization chief Pascal Lamy and president of the Jacques Delors Institue, Antonio Vitorino.

A day before the crucial referendum in Greece, there are smoke signals from the European Commission. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker’s senior advisor, Martin Selmayr, has been tweeting thoughts on Greece with links to a Der Spiegel interview that is more than two weeks old.

Fractious European leaders argued into the early hours on June 26 over how to handle over a migrant crisis in the Mediterranean, agreeing a plan to share out the care of desperate people fleeing war and poverty in North Africa and the Middle East.
