Minister-delegate for European Affairs Victor Negrescu on Tuesday met participants in a pilot programme called "Volunteers of the Romanian Presidency at the EU Council," to be conducted April-June 2018 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).

Senior European Union officials on Monday called on Turkey to improve its relationship with Greece and Cyprus and for the swift release of two Greek soldiers who have been in Turkish custody since early March, indicating that progress in EU-Turkish talks on other issues hinged on these issues. 

Varna will host this evening a very important meeting for the relations between the European Union and Turkey. The main topics will be visa liberalization, the financial part of the Refugee Agreement, the fight against terrorism, Turkey's accession talks.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker admitted he expected the EU-Turkey summit due in Varna, Bulgaria, with mixed feelings. He said that at a joint press conference with European Council President Donald Tusk.

''The upcoming meeting between the leaders of the EU and Turkey in Varna is necessary for the normalization of relations between the EU and Ankara.''

This is what Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov commented at a meeting with European Council President Donald Tusk in Brussels, the press service of the Council of Ministers announced.

The Council of the EU will decide, at the last possible moment, whether the key meeting for the Bulgarian presidency with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Varna will take place. This was made clear by the statement of European Council President Donald Tusk, quoted by BTA.

The future of the European institutions, their governance and the multiannual financial framework are the main topics of the informal European Summit today in Brussels. As these are issues that will be of concern to Europe after her separation with the UK, today 27 heads of state and government are taking part in the meeting, as will be the Member States number after the break.

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila is carrying out an official visit in Brussels, on which occasion she will hold a series of meetings with high European officials on Tuesday and Wednesday, a press release of the Executive announces.

An EU-Turkey Summit will be held on March 26 in Bulgaria with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expected to be attendance, an EU spokesman said Tuesday, New Europe writes. 

The European Union is considering the possibility of holding a summit with the Turkish leadership, European Commission spokesman Alexander Winterstein said at a press conference.
