Kenan Evren, Turkey?s former coup leader and seventh president, died at a military hospital in Ankara on late May 9 due to multiple organ failure. He was 98.
Evren was the leader of the Sept. 12, 1980, military coup d?état as the Chief of Staff at the time.

A Turkish court has issued a life sentence for former President Kenan Evren and former air force commander Tahsin Sahinkaya.
Evren, 96, and 89-year-old Sahinkaya were found guilty of crimes against the state, Hurriyet Daily News reported.
