"Pro-European parties" lead in Ukraine election

MOSCOW -- The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that the holding parliamentary elections in Ukraine provided "an opportunity for peace in the east."

However, a statement noted that a large number of "nationalists" in parliament could undermine this process, RIA Novosti reported.

Croatian MEP to Head EU-Ukraine Delegation

Plenkovic said on Monday that the delegation would show solidarity with Ukraine and support "the European choice of the Ukrainian people".

His appointment comes amid continued violence in the country which erupted after pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted in February after weeks of protests against his decision not to sign an Association Agreement with the EU.

Bulgaria To Participate In Military Exercise in Ukraine

The Rapid Trident 2014 military exercise, which will take place in Western Ukraine September 13-26, will include 10 countries, among which is Bulgaria, reported France Press. 

The exercise has been planned a long time ago and will take place against the background of the armed conflict between the Ukrainian army and the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.
