Presidential adviser to attend Poroshenko's inauguration

BELGRADE -- Serbian president's adviser on foreign affairs Ivan Mrkić will attend the inauguration of Ukraine's new president Petro Prooshenko in Kiev on Saturday.

Poroshenko won in the presidential election in Ukraine on May 25 with 54 percent of the votes.

Ukrainian Economy to Contract by 5% in 2014 - PM Yatsenyuk

Ukraine's GDP is expected to go down 5% this year, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced at a parliamentary session.

Yatsenyuk added the growth forecast depended largely on the developments yet to be seen in Eastern Ukraine. But regardless of events there Kiev would not meet its 2014 budgetary target of a 3% increase this year.

Viktor Yanukovych to Respect Choice of Ukrainians

Ukraine's former president Viktor Yanukovych says he will respect the results of Sunday's presidential elections.

"No matter in what region and what percentage of the population came to the polls, which choice you have made, I respect this choice that has been made in the most difficult time for our Motherland", Yanukovych said in a statement, quoted by ITAR-TASS.

Swiss Prosecution Freezes Viktor Yanukovych's Assets

Switzerland's federal prosecutor has frozen USD 193.34M of assets in Swiss bank accounts belonging to former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych and people close to him.

At the end of February, the assets of 20 Ukrainians, including Yanukovich, were frozen. In March, Switzerland added the names of nine more Ukrainians to the list of people concerned by the measures.

US 'Shows Evidence' of Russian Soldiers in Eastern Ukraine

The US State Department has released photos purportedly showing the presence of Russian soldiers in Eastern Ukraine.

According to US officials, the photos prove that some of the fighters taking part in Ukraine's recent unrest are actually special forces from Russia and even seemed to have Russian insignia, CNN has reported.
