Pride parade

Ten people were detained at the LGBT Pride March in Istanbul's Taksim Square on June 25, as tension rose after the Istanbul Governor's Office banned the march.

Police took strict measures at the entrance of the square and İstiklal Avenue, carrying out ID checks and searches, Doğan News Agency reported.

Istanbul Governor's Office has announced that it will not allow the LGBT Pride March, which was set to take place on June 25 in Istanbul's Taksim Square, citing security concerns and public order.

Pride Parade will be held on Saturday, June 24 in Belgrade, organizers have announced.

Pride Weekend, June 23-26, during which Pride walk is held, is organized by Citizens' Association Egal, Loud & Queer, and the Gay Lesbian Info Center.

The Alperen Hearths, an ultranationalist youth organization linked to right-wing nationalist Great Union Party (BBP), has threatened the LGBT Pride March set to take place on June 25 in Istanbul's Taksim Square, vowing to prevent the march from taking place. 

The annual Athens Pride event for the LGBTQI community, celebrating equality, diversity and difference, gets under way at noon on Saturday, June 10, in Syntagma Square with body/face painting, music and dancing until the start of the parade at 6.30 p.m. The theme of this year's event is education and how perceptions can be shaped in the classroom.
