Respect for international law precondition for solid bilateral ties, Greek PM tells Erdogan

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has said that Turkish respect for international law and countries' territorial integrity is a precondition for a solid bilateral relationship between the two Aegean neighbors.

"Differences have always existed and [they exist] today," Tsipras said during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Maximos Mansion on Thursday.

The US is not just Washington

A meeting at the White House is always a significant event. However, the United States is more than Washington, the capital, where Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is set to arrive on Monday. There are other major cities, such as Chicago, which Tsipras is also scheduled to visit - and with good reason.

Reclaiming influence

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is due to travel to the United States on October 17 for a visit where he will probably see for himself how much the Greek diaspora's influence in Washington has waned.
