Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has announced that Romania is set to become a part of the Schengen area through its land borders by the end of this year. This declaration comes as Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner refrained from providing a specific timeframe for overcoming the veto on Romania and Bulgaria's entry into Schengen through land routes.

Romanian Prime Minister Ion-Marcel Ciolacu underscored that Romania's stance on its Schengen file hinges on the Netherlands' stance toward Bulgaria's entry into the European Schengen area. Speaking to Agerpress and Digi24, Ciolacu highlighted the recent Dutch elections on November 22 as a factor affecting parliamentary voting procedures.

The President of the Senate, Anca Dragu, said that she filed a challenge with the Constitutional Court on a legal conflict of a constitutional nature between the Government of Romania and the Prime Minister of Romania, on the one hand, and the Romanian Parliament, on the other.

President Klaus Iohannis stated, on Friday, that he is withdrawing his trust in Prime Minister Viorica Dnacila, claiming that she cannot handle the position of Prime Minister.

In context, the head of state publicly requested the resignation of Viorica Dancila.

AGERPRES special correspondent Daniel Florea reports: The President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday told the Romanian Prime minister Viorica Dancila on her two-day official visit in Brussels that he "trusts very much Romania's judiciary" and that he is not necessarily "very worried" about the situation in our country.

It is expected tomorrow to be clear who will be the new Prime Minister of Romania.

The political upheaval took place after the ruling Social Democratic Party took its trust from Prime Minister Mihai Tudose and he resigned.

This will be the third change of Prime Minister in the Social Democrats government for the past year.

Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia could be a "wall" that defends the European Union, Romanian Prime Minister Mihai Tudose has said.

He made the statement in Varna, Bulgaria, where he on Tuesday met with his Greek and Bulgarian counterparts, and the Serbian president.
