PSD's Dragnea: UDMR continues to support governing coalition

Social Democrat Party (PSD) executive chairman Liviu Dragnea has stated on Monday that the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) continues to support the current governing coalition, fact confirmed by telephone by the chairman of the Union, Hunor Kelemen, to Prime Minister Victor Ponta.

President in office of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy has congratulated Klaus Iohannis on being elected Romania's President in a November 16 runoff election.

In a press release issued on Monday he said that on behalf of the European Union he congratulates Mr Klaus Iohannis on being elected to the office of Romania's President.

Victor Ponta: I am determined to remain in Prime Minister office

Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Monday said that he was determined to remain in the Prime Minister office.

"I am determined to remain in the Prime Minister office. (...) I plan to continue the act of governance, to adopt the budget as soon as possible, in the coming period," Victor Ponta told a press conference at the Palace of Parliament.

Romania's President-elect Klaus Iohannis has argued that the country is in need of deep change.

Speaking at his first press conference after Sunday's presidential runoff, Iohannis said that voters had made it clear that the country was in need of thorough change.
