China factory activity contracts for 5th month: Official PMI
Activity in China's manufacturing sector contracted for a fifth straight month in December, an official survey showed on Jan. 1, reinforcing fears the world's second-largest economy may be stuck in a protracted slowdown despite a flurry of stimulus measures.
Industrial production up 4.6 percent in October
Industrial production - a measure of output in the manufacturing, utilities and mining sectors - rose 4.6 percent in October from the same month in 2014, and rose 0.1 percent in October from September, the report said.
Industrial production jumped 2.8 percent in September, year-on-year.

Turkey reaches 'certain clarity' on national missile defense system
Turkey has reached "certain clarity" on the decision for a tender on its long-range missile defense system, Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) head ?smail Demir has said.
"We are reviewing several parameters. We want to make a decision without a further extension," he said, speaking at a Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA) panel on Oct. 26.
