Main streets closed in Athens for rally against private universities
Streets in the center of Athens will be gradually closed off to traffic on Thursday as a protest march against the establishment of private universities got underway.
Teachers going back on strike Thursday over educational reforms
Teachers at Greece's public schools on Tuesday announced another walkout as part of ongoing actions against the government's planned educational reforms.
The three-hour work stoppage, organized by the Greek Federation of Secondary Education State School Teachers (OLME) will take place on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Students, teachers to protest against establishment of private universities
A student and teacher rally will take place at noon Thursday at the Propylaea, central Athens, against the establishment of private universities.
At the same time, the Greek Federation of Secondary Education State School Teachers (OLME) has announced a three-hour work stoppage from 11 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon in order for teachers to participate in the demonstrations.
Work begins on new Acropolis gift shop
A pine tree will elegantly penetrate the roof, providing ample shade, while visitors will have the pleasure of leisurely exploring the spacious interior adorned with a distinctive floor and ceramic walls, where they can choose their souvenirs after taking in the Acropolis. Young visitors, too, will have their own dedicated space within the establishment.

The metro station Panepistimio in central Athens will close at 4 p.m. on Tuesday due to a planned protest rally at the Propylaea.
This means the trains will pass from the station without stopping.
Acropolis welcomes visitors again after two months

Three teachers union will hold a protest rally in central Athens on Wednesday to express their disagreement with a new bill that brings changes to all levels of education which they describe as "neoliberal" and "anti-educational."

A photograph of a full moon rising over the Parthenon and the Propylaea that was recently posted on Instagram by National Geographic has attracted more than 1.2 million likes.
The picture capturing the last full moon of 2018 was taken by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Muhammed Muheisen on December 22.
