Bulgaria is 51st in Prosperity - in front of South Africa and behind Suriname
Bulgaria is 51st in prosperity in the world, shows this year's edition of Legatum Prosperity Index. It is based on the results in 9 areas surveyed in 149 countries around the world, where 96% of mankind lives and are responsible for 99% of the world's gross domestic product.
This puts our country in front of South Africa, but behind the Republic of Suriname.

On November 3, the London-based research institute Legatum released its 10th annual global Prosperity Index, which evaluates countries based on a variety of factors, namely health, happiness and the economic prosperity of its inhabitants.

Bulgaria Ranks 57th in Legatum's Prosperity Index
In ten years, Bulgaria has climbed three positions in the Prosperity Index of the London-based Legatum Institute, but bad scores in the management, health care and personal freedom sub-indices leave the country at the bottom of the ranking among EU member-states.

Bulgaria Sinks in 2015 Prosperity Index's Personal Freedom Ranking
Bulgaria has ranked worse in the 2015 Legatum Prosperity Index than did last year, losing three spots.
The Prosperity Index uses "both income and wellbeing" indicators to measure prosperity, focusing on criteria as diverse as social capital, personal freedom, safety and security, health, education, governance, and entrepreneurship, apart from economy statistics.
