Bulgarian Cabinet Allocates BGN 15.8 M for Natural Disaster Relief, Prevention

The Bulgarian government approved on Wednesday  the allocation of BGN 15.8 M to cover additional expenses of ministries and transfers to municipalities amounting.

The funds are allocated from the reserves of the government budget for overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and future prevention.

Bulgarian Archaeologists Find Rare Byzantine Gold Coin in Perperikon

A rare Byzantine gold coin dating back to the 11th century has been found in the ancient city of Perperikon, the renowned Bulgarian archaeologist Nikolay Ovcharov revealed on Sunday.

The coin made of 23-carat gold is depicting Byzantine Emperor Basil II (976-1025) and his younger brother Emperor Constantine VIII (1025-1028).

Ethan McKen, 24, a teacher from Nottingham was hit by a wave and couldn't make it back to shore on Saturday morning. The friends who were with McKen were unable to find him, the BBC said, citing a family member.

Firefighters Contain Forest Blaze Near Bulgaria's Sunny Beach Resort

Firefighters have contained a wildfire north of Bulgaria's Sunny Beach seaside resort and there is no risk to a holiday village located nearby, BGNES reported on Thursday.

No one was injured in the fire that broke out at about 2 p.m. (1100 GMT) and engulfed some 15 hectares of shrubs and dry grass close to Khanska Shatra restaurant situated on a hill north of Sunny Beach.
