Tens of thousands of people were being evacuated from flood-hit regions of central China on July 22 as officials raised the death toll from heavy rains that have deluged Henan province for almost a week to 33 people.

A city in northern China is building a 3,000-unit quarantine facility to deal with an anticipated overflow of patients as COVID-19 cases rise ahead of the Lunar New Year travel rush.

The last two infected with the new coronavirus in the Chinese city of Huanggang, Hubei province, were cured, BTA reported.

Since the outbreak of the virus in China, the city of Huanggang has registered 2,907 infected. 2782 patients were recovered and discharged from hospitals, 125 died.

The youngest patient infected with the coronavirus, a three-month-old girl from China's Hainan Province, was successfully cured. The child has already been discharged from the hospital, BTA reports.

The number of Chinese tourists during the winter season 2018/2019 reached 224 million, with winter tourism maintaining a trend of intense growth.

At least three Chinese airports have been shut and nine others are experiencing extensive delays because of heavy snowfall, Chinese aviation data provider VariFlight said on Thursday, reported Reuters. 

China’s northeast city Changchun saw its first freight train depart to Hamburg, Germany, on Friday.

The trip will take 12 to 15 days at the maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour, according to a local official.
