The Oichalia Municipality and the Athenaeum International Cultural center pay homage to the celebrated Greek soprano Maria Callas on the occasion of 2017 having been dedicated to her memory, with a concert at the archaeological site of Ancient Messene in the Peloponnese, on Saturday, September 16.

Two injured as ferry crashes into Sifnos pier
Two passengers were slightly injured on Wednesday when a ferry struck the pier at the port of Sifnos island in the Aegean Sea.
The accident took place as the Sea Jet 2 vessel carrying 196 passengers sailed into the island's harbor on its regular route from Piraeus to Serifos, Sifnos, Milos, Folegandros, Santorini, Koufonisi, Naxos, Mykonos, Santorini.

Hydrocarbon exploration maps for Ionian and Crete unveiled
The government on Wednesday provided the locations of the three blocks - two off the coast of Crete and one in the Ionian Sea - that will be tendered for hydrocarbon exploration.
The block to be tendered for exploration in the Ionian Sea covers 6,671.13 square kilometers and is located north of the island of Cephalonia and west of Lefkada and Corfu islands.
Belgian national arrested on terrorism charges on Corfu-bound ferry
Greek authorities have detained a 22-year-old Belgian woman on terrorism charges following a tip-off by Italian police that she had boarded a ferry to Corfu on Friday night.
Two tons of cannabis seized from a yacht near Kythira
Coast guard officials on Kythira detained two foreign men on Friday, an Italian and an Albanian national, after seizing some 2 tons of cannabis from a yacht spotted sailing off the island's southern coast.
According to a statement issued by the coast guard, the vessel had set sail from Italy, collected the drugs from Albania and had been bound for the islands of the Aegean.
Bomb scare aboard ferry leads to delays at Santorini port
A phone call claiming that a bomb had been planted on a ship that was scheduled to leave Santorini for Piraeus caused disruption at the holiday island's port on Thursday.
Fires rage at the island of Kythera, Greece!
On early Saturday afternoon, the fire that threatened the island of Kythera, where two settlements were evacuated, Mylopotamos and the Araies was reignited. Two aircraft and three helicopters returned hurriedly to the area, although earlier, when the fire was considered to be under control, they had left.
There are also 23 vehicles, 118 firefighters.

The History of Silk | Soufli | Year-Round
