Two men convicted by Komotini court of being members of IS
A Swede and a Yemeni, aged 30 and 20, were sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday by a court in Komotini, northeastern Greece, that found them guilty of being members of so-called Islamic State.
5 Greek beaches in Europe’s top 15 for 2017 (photos)
Five Greek beaches are in Europe’s top 15 list for 2017, according to preferences of travelers from around the globe on the website European Best Destinations. Those are Xi beach in Kefalonia, Simos Beach on Elafonisos island, Seychelles Beach in Icaria, Porto Timoni Beach in Corfu and Canal d’Amour in Sidari.
Orestiada area suffers severe hail damage
Some 7,400 acres of crops, mainly cotton and sunflowers, in the areas of Didymoteicho and Orestiada in northeastern Greece were wiped out by a severe hailstorm on Tuesday night, authorities said Thursday.

Two rescued after jeep falls into Volos port
Two people were rescued after the car they were in fell into the harbor of Volos in central Greece on Tuesday night.
Two people working at the port dove into the water, broke the car's window and pulled out the passenger and driver after the vehicle shot off the docking bay right beside the ferry Proteus, which had just arrived from Skiathos and was unloading.
