Greece: Ferry Line from Thessaloniki to the Sporades Starts Operating from 1 June
A new ferry line will run three times a week from Thessaloniki to the Sporades Islands. The first ferries will depart on June 1, and the seasonal route will be available until September 15.
The Sporades is an island complex located in the northwest Aegean Sea and it includes the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos, and further south the island of Skyros.
Snowfall and freezing temperatures hit northern Greece
Northern regions of Greece started seeing snow on Saturday, as a low pressure system, named Medea by the Athens Astronomical Observatory, started sweeping through the country.

The Leandros cold front arrived on Friday, bringing heavy snowfall mainly to the northern regions of the country and a significant drop in temperatures nationwide. The frosty weather will continue Saturday, with the snow expected to continue unabated, even in Attica.

Strict lockdown imposed in Kozani to curb virus spread

Five islands listed as at risk due to wind farms
Five Greek islands have been symbolically added to Europa Nostra's list of endangered cultural heritage sites this year due to the increased risk to landscapes posed by the excessive development of wind farms.
These islands are Amorgos, Kimolos, Sikinos, Tinos and Kythira in the southern Aegean.

Refugee trafficker jumped into Strymonas in bid to escape police
A 34-year-old people trafficker dived into the Strymonas River in an unsuccessful bid to elude police over the illegal transport of four refugees, including a minor, authorities said on Thursday.
The car he was driving was spotted by police on Wednesday afternoon on the old national road linking Thessaloniki to Kavala in northern Greece, in the region of Ofryni.
