More than a third of Greek motorists drive while under the influence of alcohol, significantly above the European Union average, according to the Hellenic Society of Forensic Medicine.

Specifically, according to European Commission data, 35 percent of Greeks admit to driving after drinking alcohol, 10 percent more than the EU average of 25 percent.

State Fund Agriculture (SFA) transferred over BGN 80 million (80,038,268 leva) subsidies to 41,116 farmers under the Transitional National Tobacco Support Scheme, decoupled from production. This was announced by the SFA.
 
The funds under the scheme are laid down in the State Budget Act for 2019 and are approved by the Management Board of SF "Agriculture".
 

Bulgarian customs officials confiscated more than 288 kilograms (635 pounds) of heroin hidden on a truck from Iran, prosecutors announced Thursday.

The haul was the biggest amount of heroin seized at Bulgaria's borders this year, the customs agency said.

The suspect, whose initials are M.B., carried a South African passport at the time.

A stricken boat and a huge haul of cocaine in Romania have thrown a spotlight on how drug traffickers are increasingly ferrying cocaine into Europe along a Balkan path used for years by heroin smugglers.

Turkish security forces on April 15 seized some 285.6 kilograms of heroin in the eastern Van province, local police said.

A little over 25 kg is the amount of cocaine found near Varna. Washed ashore on the beach in front of the Marina Hotel in the Slanchev Den complex, it was reported on 112 at 5 pm yesterday by construction workers, the Ministry of Interior's regional directorate deputy head, Andrey Angelov, said at a briefing today, quoted by Focus Radio.

In the Black Sea we have found five consignments of cocaine wrapped in waterproof material and a lifejacket to stay afloat, Minister of Interior Mladen Marinov said at the beginning of today's government meeting, Focus News Agency reports. "So far we have seized about 170 kg of high-quality cocaine.
