Antalya welcomes 4 million visitors during Eid holiday

Antalya, one of Türkiye's major destinations for local and international holidaymakers, welcomed around 4 million visitors during the Eid al-Adha holiday.

More than 1 million vehicles and nearly 7,200 buses entered the Mediterranean city during the long holiday, according to local officials. The airplane traffic at Antalya Airport reached 4,300.

36 dead in road accidents during Eid holiday

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on June 20 that 36 individuals have died in traffic accidents across the country since the start of the Eid al-Adha holiday.

Between June 15 and 19, a total of 6,550 people were injured in road accidents, Yerlikaya revealed in a social media post. The roads witnessed 696 accidents on June 19 alone, claiming 10 lives.

22 killed in road accidents during first 3 days of Eid

Thousands of traffic accidents resulted in the death of 22 individuals across the country during the first three days of the Eid al-Adha holiday, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced.

More than 4,000 people were injured in road accidents between June 15 and 17, Yerlikaya said on June 18 on a social media post.

Preparations concluded as Türkiye set to mark Eid al-Adha

The country has completed its final preparations for the four-day Eid al-Adha amidst travel precautions and the hustle and bustle of shopping centers.

Eid al-Adha, or the feast of sacrifice, is set to begin on June 16, with the symbolic sacrifice of livestock as part of the rituals associated with the festival.

10 mln to embark on journeys for extended Eid holiday

Nearly 10 million people in Türkiye are expected to travel during the nine-day Eid holiday to visit relatives and friends and take advantage of the prolonged respite, a sector representative has said.

Although the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, or the feast of sacrifice, traditionally spans four days, its extension to nine days has prompted many in the country to make travel plans.
