PPC gets approval for two wind parks in Rodopi

Greece's dominant power utility PPC won approval from the energy regulator to produce electricity at two wind parks it plans to build in northern Greece, it said on Wednesday.

The production license opens the way for the construction of the 106-megawatt-capacity parks in Rodopi, a project which is estimated to cost 127.2 million euros ($161.47 million).

Power worker injured at lignite mine

A Public Power Corporation (PPC) worker suffered broken arms and legs while working at a lignite mine area in Ptolemaida, northern Greece, on Monday.

The man, whose age was not given, was on an eight-month contract at PPC. He had been trying to empty the truck he was driving when the ground gave way.

He was hurt trying to get free of his vehicle.

Greece's PPC OKs 180-mln-euro investment for wind projects

Public Power Corporation has approved a 180-million-euro investment for wind projects in northern Greece and a tender for a smaller facility in Crete.

This enables Greece’s energy regulator to start evaluating applications for power-generation licenses for 150 megawatts of capacity in Rodopi, PPC said in a statement.
