Qatar and Turkey held joint military exercises from March 14 to March 22, said Qatar's Defense Ministry.

Months into a dispute that has seen Doha cut off from Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Qatar's emir said Nov. 174 his country was "a thousand times better off" without them.

Joint Turkish-Qatari naval exercises concluded outside the Qatari capital of Doha on Aug. 7, according to statements issued by Qatar's Defense Ministry.

The rapid-response exercises, which lasted for two days, were conducted entirely in Qatari territorial waters.

Amid diplomatic crisis between Qatar and a rival Saudi-led bloc in West Asia, North Korea has reportedly struck a USD 100 million arms deal with a company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Turkey's Ambassador to Qatar, Fikret Özer, met with Qatar's Chief of General Staff, Gen. Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem on July 19 to discuss strengthening relations between the two countries.  
      

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on July 13 wrapped up a four-day mission to the Gulf with little sign of progress in resolving the diplomatic crisis pitting Saudi Arabia and its allies against Qatar.

The Moody's rating agency has changed its outlook on Qatar's credit rating from stable to negative due to political anxiety ahead of the meeting between the Arab states who initiated a diplomatic and economic blockade of the emirate.
