Former prosecutors of Deniz Feneri embezzlement case criticize court's rule

Two former prosecutors of the German-linked Deniz Feneri (Lighthouse) charity embezzlement case, who were removed from the case, criticized an Istanbul court?s decision on the case?s suspects. 

The Istanbul court made the decision May 13 to either acquit the suspects involved in the case or drop the case entirely due to a lapse of time.  

Lack of fair media opportunity in Turkish elections

The Kurdish problem-focused Peoples? Democratic Party (HDP) filed an official complaint to Turkey?s Supreme Election Board (YSK) on May 5, claiming that President Tayyip Erdo?an has been taking sides on behalf of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Parti), despite the president?s political neutrality outlined in the constitution.

Erdo?an casts shadow over fair elections in Turkey

The record may have been broken on May 1 when most of the national TV channels did very little other than broadcast live speeches from President Tayyip Erdo?an and Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu. But there is no guarantee that it may not be broken again during the course of parliamentary elections on June 7.

No fine for government-friendly business tycoon's ad featuring Turkish flag

Turkey?s media watchdog has decided not to fine the company responsible for a TV advertisement in which a Turkish flag was shown, which is forbidden in ads. 

The Supreme Council of Radio and Television (RTÜK) did not order a punishment for the usage of the national flag in the ad for the A?ao?lu group, owned by prominent business mogul Ali A?ao?lu.
