Radio spectrum

Ljubljana – The Agency for Communication Networks and Services (AKOS) concluded on Friday a wireless spectrum auction as part of which it also offered frequency bands for 5G mobile networks. It has fetched EUR 164.2 million as all four bidders – A1 Slovenija, Telekom Slovenije, Telemach and T-2 – have been awarded frequency bands.

Ljubljana – The Agency for Communication Networks and Services (AKOS) will launch today a long-awaited wireless spectrum auction, as part of which it is also offering frequency bands for 5G mobile networks.

Spectrum in the 700 MHz, 1500 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 3600 MHz and 26 GHz bands is available. A portion of the 700 MHz, 3600 MHz and 26 GHz bands is dedicated to 5G.

Digital Governance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis signed off on Thursday a regulatory text on the granting of rights of use for radio frequencies in the 700 MHz frequency band, paving the way for the establishment of 5G broadband networks in Greece.

Radio frequency spectrum will be released in order for the building of 5G networks to start. This envisages the government decision adopted today to amend the National Spectrum Allocation Plan.
