After the tragic accident in central Greece shortly before midnight Tuesday, the shortcomings and omissions of local train networks and the unheeded warnings are again coming to light.

Launched between the two eastern provinces to meet the increasing passenger demand during the semester break, the Kars-Erzurum Touristic Express has made its first trip.

The Infrastructure Ministry has announced the tender for a 4-kilometer extension of Line 2 of the Athens metro from Anthoupoli westward to Ilion with three new stations: Palatiani (at the junction of Thivon Avenue and Kappadokia Street), Ilion (Thivon & Eleon) and Agios Nikolaos (Agios Nikolaos & Paramythia).

Türkiye plans to increase the number of high-speed train services in the face of rising demand, Transport Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu has said.

The number of those train services will increase from the current 44 to 56 starting Sept. 10, while passenger capacity will be boosted by 5,200, according to the minister.

Europe's first cross-continental train, the Orient Express shuttling between Paris and Istanbul has arrived in Türkiye after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

The train departing from Paris visited Budapest, Bucharest, Varna and the northwestern Turkish province of Edirne before arriving in Istanbul.

The legendary "Orient Express" train arrived at the station in Ruse. The trip is organized once a year on the Paris - Istanbul route but has not taken place in the last three years due to the pandemic.

The train last stopped at the station in Ruse on August 27, 2019, when 91 tourists from 12 countries traveled with the luxury train.
