Disruptions in Athens Friday and over weekend
Workers at the Athens metro, the Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway (ISAP) and the tram will hold a work stoppage Friday from 12 noon to 3 p.m. to protest new legislation that will allow the Athens Public Transport Organization (OASA) to make commercial use of stations and areas belonging to STASY, the operator of the capital's fixed-track public transport system.

EU demands return of OSE's loans
The European Commission is putting Greece on the spot over the return of state subsidies granted to Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE).
The EC's Directorate General for Competition (DG Comp) last week sent Greek authorities a document referring to the loans received by the organization with Greek state guarantees.

Syntagma metro station to be shut for three days
The capital's busiest metro station, Syntagma, will be closed over the weekend and on Monday, February 20, to allow engineers to install the new ticket barriers that are being rolled out across the metro and electric railway network in Athens.

Four more stations of the Athens metro will remain closed this weekend as part of ongoing work to install turnstiles throughout the system.
The stations that will be closed to the public on Saturday and Sunday are Omonia, Neos Cosmos, Elainoas and Holargos; trains will pass through them without stops.

Three Athens metro stations will be closed over the weekend as part of ongoing work to install turnstiles in a bid to crack down on fare dodging.
The stations of Panepistimio and Aghios Ioannis on Line 2, and Aghia Marina on Line 3, will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Trains will pass through the the affected stations without stopping.
