With light rains witnessed on the first day of the new year, experts predict the occurrence of intermittent precipitation across the country for the coming week.

In the morning, temperatures will hover between 0°C and 5°C with little fluctuation throughout the day, particularly around 0-1°C in Sofia.

Northern Bulgaria will witness a cessation of precipitation by noon, while the southern region will experience continued but diminishing rain into the late evening, potentially accumulating significant amounts, leading to increased snow cover.

Get ready for a pleasant midweek as Bulgaria braces for a day of dry, warm weather. According to meteorological forecasts, Wednesday promises a calm climate across the nation with temperatures hovering between minus 1 to 14 degrees Celsius.

"On Thursday and Friday it will rain, there will be over 700-800 meters of snow. Christmas will be snowless, I don't see any precipitation until December 25 in the whole country", said Prof. Georgi Rachev on bTV.

The weather in the Balkans is warmer than in Spain, he added. However, there will be snow for the skiers.

Local storms with strong wind and mild temperatures are forecast from late afternoon on Sunday until the evening hours of Monday.

The eastern and southern parts of the country expect local heavy rains and storms, hail and strong gusty winds.
