Attempts by the outgoing caretaker government to oust Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, who served under the previous government of Boyko Borissov, are continuing.

On Tuesday acting Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov approached the Deputy Chief Prosecutor and Director of the National Investigation Borislav Sarafov with a signal against Geshev for leaked eavesdropping.

The caretaker Minister of Interior, Boyko Rashkov, has filed a complain against Chief Prosecutor, Ivan Geshev, to the Director of the National Investigation Service, Borislav Sarafov.

Rashkov announced this on July 27 after an award ceremony for directors of regional directorates of the MoI for good performance of their duties.

Hungary has reaffirmed its support for Bulgaria's entry to the Schengen visa-free area at a meeting between Bulgarian  Interior Ministry Boyko Rashkov and his Hungarian counterpart Sandro Pinter here on Friday. 

Former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced that he had been summoned for questioning by caretaker Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov over alleged threats made to a Bulgarian businessman.

"He calls on me to appear for questioning on Thursday," Borissov said during a briefing.

The General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime is investigating 14 transplants performed at the Lozenets government hospital, Interior Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Boyko Rashkov said today.

He specified that the investigation started after the Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov handed over the results of the inspections in the hospital to the Ministry of Interior.

Bulgarian caretaker interior minister Boyko Rashkov accused on Sunday the prosecution of keeping secret a list of 38 magistrates and politicians who own undeclared property abroad.

The list was made back in 2019 when the Bulgarian authorities asked foreign countries to inform them of the property owned by Bulgarian nationals.

Caretaker Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov confirmed that politicians, public figures and participants in last year's antigovernment protests have been wiretapped.

Elena Ficherova, head of the cabinet of Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov, has applied for dismissal, the ministry said.

"The act is motivated by the desire not to cause negatives for the political cabinet. Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov has granted the request. The order comes into force today," the statement said.

The security clearance of caretaker Minister of Interior Boyko Rashkov has been revoked because he had disclosed confidential information, said the suspended deputy head of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) Nedyalko Nedyalkov. Today, he went to the security agency to find out the reasons for his dismissal.

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov confirmed for BTA late on Thursday that politicians were being wiretapped by two security agencies - the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and the State Agency Technical Operations (SATO). Rashkov further said that he has received information about materials being destroyed at SANS.
