Not easy to cover tourism losses: Business group
With many Russians holidaying elsewhere due to the now-resolved row between Moscow and Ankara, Turkey stands to lose between $8 billion and $10 billion in tourism revenue by the end of the year, according to Çetin Gürcün, the secretary-general of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB).

CHP publishes stamp to mark anniversary
The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has prepared a stamp to mark the 93rd anniversary of the foundation of the party depicting the party's symbol and CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. The preparation of the stamp also carried special meaning for party leader Kılıçdaroğlu, who is known to own a stamp collection and was surprised by the commemorative stamp.

MHP's expelled Akşener contacts Erdogan to defend party figures
Opposition Nationalist Movement Party's (MHP) recently expelled, former member and chair candidate, Meral Akşener, has contacted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to defend some 33 names whose detentions were sought as part of a probe into the Gulenists infiltration into the political party, daily Cumhuriyet reported on Sept. 16.
Erdoğan's call for restraint
Turkey is now coming back from a long bayram holiday, or I should say from a feast, in the Russian philosopher Bakthin's sense of the term. "The feast" says Bakthin, "Has no utilitarian connotation [as has daily rest and relaxation after working hours]. On the contrary, the feast means liberation from all that is utilitarian, practical.

What to do about the journalists in jail?
On July 14, a night before the failed coup attempt in Turkey, there was a political discussion show on Can Erzincan TV, a small TV channel unofficially operated by the Gülen cult. Ahmet Altan and Mehmet Altan, two brothers who are iconic names in Turkey's liberal-left tradition, were on the show.

AKP MP hints at three elections in three years
A ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) lawmaker has suggested that the party is working on a constitutional amendment to hold local elections in 2018 instead of 2019 and to postpone general elections by one year until 2020, in order to avoid having three polls in 2019, when a presidential election will also be held.

Alleged Gülenist speaks at US Congress panel on Turkey
An alleged member of the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) was included on the speakers list of a U.S. congressional panel on Sept. 14, discussing the aftermath of the coup attempt in Turkey, at a time when Ankara is pressing the U.S. to extradite Fethullah Gülen, the Pennsylvania-based Islamic preacher and the main suspect in the coup probe.
