NEW YORK - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic is on a visit to the US, during which he will take part in a UNGA session, speak at an annual conference organised by the Clinton Foundation and hold a series of bilateral meetings with state officials and businesspeople.

Court arrests journalist Ahmet Altan in coup attempt probe

An Istanbul court ordered the arrest of prominent journalist Ahmet Altan on Sept. 23, after the former daily Taraf editor-in-chief was detained by police for a second time.

Altan was initially freed before dawn on Sept. 22 while the Istanbul court arrested his academic brother, Professor Mehmet Altan.

Turkey's bipolar disorder problem

The man who kicked a 23-year-old nurse in the face on an Istanbul public bus "because she was wearing shorts" reportedly suffers from bipolar disorder and had been treated many times at a mental facility. 

Abdullah Çakiroğlu admitted that he kicked the young woman on a public bus. In his testimony he said:

Coup plotters not welcomed in Greece: Greek PM

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has reportedly assured Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that anyone implicated in the July 15 failed coup attempt in Turkey was not welcome in his country, amid reports Athens has already rejected the asylum demands of a number of Turkish coup attempting soldiers who escaped to the neighboring country.

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said they were in favor of the continuation of the implementation of a deal regarding refugees signed between the European Union and Turkey, in a meeting held in New York on Wednesday, Kathimerini's Tom Ellis reported.
